Sometimes you just need to enjoy the spring weather and spend some time with your significant other. It’s even better to do that with a free date, and some great snacks!
I’ve opened up about struggles with PCOS and Insulin Resistance, and so I’m always on the lookout for snacks with lots of protein, low sugar, and low carbs. After having some sugar at work I knew I needed a more nutritious snack. We swung by Walmart and went to the lunch meat section in search of some protein options to enjoy instead of candy.
We walked out with four P3 Portable Protein Packs, by Oscar Mayer. They are these new awesome snacks with lunch meat, cheese, and nuts. 160 calories and a 13 grams of protein later I was sold- something I can eat that’s easy and cheap! But not before we grabbed our latest movie purchase that we can’t get enough of!
Our area does offer Movies in the Park in a couple locations. However, finding an open night and a movie we want to watch can often be a challenge. We’ve been craving a date watching a movie in the park since the weather has been perfect in Phoenix for a while, but it just hasn’t happened. We decided to take matters into our own hands and have a DIY Movies in the Park night involving a laptop and our local park. It’s easy- blanket + snacks + laptop with movie and you have a totally free, totally perfect spring date!
And I mentioned there was food right? Because if Elf has taught us anything it’s that a date is eating food together- “real food, not candy”.
And sometimes I’d just rather look at this boy than the camera. Mission accomplished.
I have no idea why watching a movie on a laptop in a cool location is infinitely better than watching it on a larger screen from your couch- but trust me, it just is!
And snuggling while watching the sunset, we’re good with that too!
