I love back-to-school season; fresh crayons, new beginnings, new friends, new excitement over learning, and of course new clothes- it’s a wonderful time! One of my favorite memories growing up was shopping with my mom and figuring out pieces that would work together. This was something I loved so much, I never fully stopped doing. College still technically made me a student, being a teacher made a back-to-school wardrobe still a thing, grad school once again made it justifiable, and by the time I was in the business world, back-to-school shopping was a habit I just wasn’t ready to shake.
Now that I’m a mom I’m realizing that back-to-school styles and sales are one of the main reasons shopping is so fun for yourself and especially for your kids this time of year! Even with a toddler, it’s the perfect time to put together a capsule wardrobe and find pieces that look great in multiple looks and for all occasions. Today I’m teaming up with OshKosh B’Gosh to share how three shirts, three pants, and one accessory make several different looks ready for tot school, play dates, family outings, church, and family dates and field trips.
Let talk blue chinos first!
I love them paired with a plaid perfect for fall. When a complimentary colored bow tie is added to the mix it makes the perfect outfit for church, weddings, or family pictures. He’s ready for nicer events, and I love that the right colors in a shirt and pant plus one accessory pull it together so easily!
Two brighter colors make a right in my book, and I love that they give a trendy, hipster vibe. He’s set for tot school with friends, a family date night, or a field trip in this modern look.
All-American classic child rocking a monochrome look. I love that this would hide dirt on a city outing or a day at the park. I also love that his blue eyes are destined to pop pulling together these two trends in one simple yet sophisticated toddler outfit!
Next up we have the class gray chinos!
My little bookworm looks all set for church or a nice family dinner. The fun color in the shirt plays so well with the matching gray chinos and bow tie.
A little more playful, and a bit of vintage vibe comes a rolled up classic plaid and a classic gray. He can scoot and crawl around without showing dirt, and he’s ready for an active day in this outfit.
Can I just be very real and say he had a meltdown while trying to change him into this outfit? It was the last one we tried to shoot and decided to just call it okay and describe it instead of put a baby ready for a nap through one more outfit change 🙂
Gray chinos and the denim shirt pull off the same vibe as outfit #3 above, but give a more classic feel with a bit of contrast instead of all monochrome. This is the best outfit to hide any dirt or mess!
I saved my personal favorite for last- the darling overalls!
Part vintage baby, part farm boy, a classic plaid with a modern overall are perfect for field trips, mom and baby dates, and playtime with friends or at home.
I couldn’t resist mashing up my two favorite colors in one fun look for a baby! A bright red and a fun turquoise/teal bring an unexpected twist to the normal overall and shirt look. I love that he can go to any dressy event or down to a casual day visiting the pumpkin patch, and still pull off this darling outfit.
