Our weekend in Salt Lake City included some historical sites. With today being the Utah holiday Pioneer Day, it seems extra fitting to post the historic places we visited while in Utah.
1st up- a historic Mormon church. Think pioneers building their own house of worship out of nothing in the desert. I can only imagine the time and careful craftsmen/women it took to make the unique carvings, stained-glass windows, and brick cutouts.
After this stop we headed to the This Is the Place state park. A place with monuments marking pioneer heritage including loss and sacrifice to pioneer the West.
The top of the park includes a monument to Brigham Young, who saw the valley in a vision and when he looked at it from this point, remarked “This is the right place.”
It was a cool, free pitstop to experience and read about a little piece of history. And you can buy Utah honey here in all flavors. Seriously, The Beehive State knows how to do honey!
