International Children’s Book Day
It’s International Children’s Book Day! Here are 10 of the all-time greatest children’s books worth reading on repeat!
Happy International Children’s Book Day! We’re a family who reads a stack of books a day, and have learned life is too short to be stuck with a book you don’t love!
International Children’s Book Day
On this day of celebrating reading with children and children’s read-aloud books, it felt only fitting to share books our family loves.
With a mom as a former English teacher and an affinity for reading new books each week, we have a lot of thoughts on children’s literature.
Our Most Read Books
We own literal hundreds and hundreds of books, but if my kids (and I) had to choose only 10, I’m pretty sure these would be it! Here are the books we’ve read literally hundreds (and perhaps thousands) of times, and never get sick of! They have withstood the test of time, and years of reading later, we still adore each one!
10 Books to Read on International Children's Book Day
Celebrate International Children's Book Day with these favorite books we've read a million times and never get sick of!
Let's kick this list off with my favorite book to read to my children! It also happens to be one of their most grabbed-from-the-shelf books.
Penelope Rex is headed to school with children, and the children are delicious. You'll laugh about this dinosaur learning to curb her appetite and how she finds self-constraint to avoid eating her classmates.
I bought this book when my oldest was only one, and he literally demanded his babysitter read it non-stop for two hours one day! Bless her heart for doing it, and bless every other one for reading this one a million times so I'd only have to read a few million.
The rhyme scheme, the inspiring message, the vehicles featured- it's such a winner and so fun to read!
I have this book memorized I've read it so many time! The characters are darling, the rhyme scheme is so charming, and the story will leave your heart completely full!
For the record, every follow-up book in this series has been a complete winner, and we keep loving the characters even more!
This was a baby shower gift from my niece with the greatest sense of humor. It's been read so many times, and makes us smile each and every time!
It's perfect for babies through older kids! It's also a fun rhyming book with a fantastic message!
My kids can both recite this entire book through hysterical laughter! B.J. Novak (from The Office) hit his target audience's funny bone with this one!
My kids love each of the crayon characters and identify with Duncan so much!
The crayons all have their complaints and ideas and are ready to make their feelings known. This book is funny, charming, and one kids will ask for on repeat!
Do you need a great calm-down book? This is your winner! It's a fun and entertaining read with lovable construction vehicle characters. We read this before bed more nights than not!
Plus, you can trust those over 17,000 5-star ratings and parents raving this book has been a huge piece of their children's lives!
We love this book so much, that we created a Where the Wild Things are Nursery for our firstborn!
We love to act out parts of the book. My children love to help narrate their favorite pages.
It's a classic read, a quick read, and one of our favorites!
If you do not own a book from the Questioneers series, it's time to change that! Rosie Revere, Engineer kicked off this incredible best-selling series and it lives up to every bit of hype!
I have cried in every one of these books because the message and morals are so touching! I mean with lines like “Life might have its failures, but this was not it. The only true failure can come if you quit.” You may find a few teary eyes too!
We look forward to each new Questioneer book, and probably will even when my children are grown adults!
Hello, the first book we loved so much we literally wore it out! Luckily, we purchased a second and it's one we'll purchase again if anything happens to it. It's so fun!
Press Here is an interactive book that pulls kids right into the story. It's great for getting a few wiggles out. It's also a fun and quick read I don't mind obliging to the request to read a dozen times in a row.
I hope this list helps inspire a little reading time, and maybe a few new titles to order or reserve from the library!
Happy reading friends! I truly feel it’s one of the best gifts you can give your children!
