The Easiest Way to Dress Up a Casual Outfit

There are so many days where I start out my dressed and prepped to play with my toddler, which often means I could be in the sandbox, walking through the dirt, or being smeared with yogurt covered hands at any minute. Machine washable has become my biggest friend! Often a spontaneous date pops up and we always cease those moments, or sometimes it’s well planned but just a very casual outing that doesn’t call for much of a wardrobe change. As I’ve exchanged my dry-clean only business wardrobe for a casual work-at-home mom wardrobe, I’ve found a lot of basic t-shirts and jeans creeping into my life that I would never have thought possible several years ago.

I’ve also learned these basics are basics for a reason- comfort, ease of washing, and they are so easy to dress up or dress down! So I wanted to share the easiest way to dress up a casual outfit for everyone else working in a casual environment who wants to take their look up a notch for their next night out.

It is all about the makeup and accessories! I’ve been a lipstick fan for years, but a bright, rich color instantly makes me feel pulled together and a little fancier. I love to swipe on a quick and subtle smoky eye and lipstick, and I feel so much better more confident that a classic stripe t is welcome anywhere!

Perhaps even more elevating than the right lip color is an accessory change. Or maybe for those of us with grabby-hands babies, an accessory addition. I love a good statement piece of jewelry, there are few I’ve met that I haven’t loved. But I really love when something is well curated and I can easily find the exact style and type of piece I’m looking for.
