Tips: We missed it the first time and had to go back- find the memorial to the spot MLK gave the “I Have a Dream” speech. Read up on historical events/protests that have happened here.
It’s extra beautiful at night, try to visit then. Also, take pics whenever the window is there- this place is always crowded!

Back in September, we took a weekend trip to Washington D.C. this companion pass with free flights business has seriously paid off, and we couldn’t turn down a quick trip a place we’ve both always wanted to visit with free flights and a free place to stay with my aunt and uncle serving a mission in D.C. right now.

We got in late, dropped our luggage off, and hit the ground running to cover as much territory as possible! We’d heard the memorials are all extra cool at night, so we booked a tour. However, all the feedback we’d heard was there isn’t enough time on tours to really soak in Mr. Lincoln, so we went there there for a late night walk and tour of the Lincoln Memorial.

It’s pretty incredible to see in person and to feel the spirit and rich American history of this place.

And enjoyed the view from the front steps of the Washington Monument.

We also enjoyed the views of the 13 Colonies in stone, the pillars, the architecture, and the time it took to build this beautiful place that represents equal rights for all. What a beautiful thing.
