Modern Ruffles

I really can’t thank you enough for your response to yesterday’s post. It’s never easy to open up about these things, and the amount of comments, texts, emails, calls, and personal stories just really made me feel a lot of love and a lot of connectivity with other women who have gone through it or are currently going it. I couldn’t just jump into a lighter fashion post and some of the other fun things I’ll be sharing this week without stopping to really say thank you and how much it’s meant to my heart.

But with that said, let’s do jump into something lighter and talk about the bell-sleeve trend and a way to do it a little more classically and subtly. Because modern ruffles are worth a few minutes.
Bell-Sleeved Blouse / Skirt / Shoes / Watch / Bag / Nail Art

The bell-sleeve is a trend any girl with hips can appreciate, it draws attention to one more point of interest and brings the eyes up. I clearly fall into this camp, but I know most women really like it regardless of their body type because of the curves and subtle detail it provides. I’m loving this trend in so many forms, but I have to admit a classic, subtle ruffle that feels more modern and also appropriate for a business meeting has been my most favorite.

I couldn’t help but balance it out with my new favorite skirt. This baby is on constant repeat, and I love wearing with a t-shirt on mom days, a blouse for more formal events and dates, and a button up shirt for business meetings. I’m counting the button-up in back details on this shirt as one that fits in the later category.

It pairs so well with everything, I’m loving it with boyfriend cut jeans, tailored skinny jeans, tucked into fuller skirts, and untucked with fitted skirts. If I had a jumper or overalls I’d likely be trying it with those too!

A lot of classic business style, some fun, unique details, and a modern take on a romantic cut equals just my style. And if you’re more of a soft pink fan than classic blue, it comes in that color too!
