Don’t get me wrong, I love a good hot fudge sundae, but every now and then, you just need a fun mix-up of a classic. That’s why a caramel sundae is always a good idea. But I’m going to argue that a dulce de leche style caramel sundae bar is probably the ultimate in a fun variation everyone loves!
When I saw the NEW Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros, I couldn’t get a dulce de leche inspired sundae bar out of my head. All the toppings and options had me so excited!
With family and friends who have various food allergies and several who don’t, a sundae bar makes for a fun dessert option everyone can enjoy with toppings that best fit them.
But when we’re talking dulce de leche and caramel sundae, traditional sundae toppings need a fun mix-up, too. A quick trip to Walmart (or a quicker Walmart Grocery Pickup) and you’re set with this caramel sundae bar!
Caramel Sundae Toppings:
- Vanilla ice cream
- Your favorite caramel sundae sauce
- Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros
- Mini wafer cookies
- Caramel baking chips
- Shortbread cookie pieces
- Crushed toffee candy bar pieces
- Hazelnut filled cookies
Putting Together a Dulce de Leche Caramel Sundae Bar
We like to warm up the caramel sauce/syrup, just as you would with hot fudge, just before serving. Other than that, it just takes placing your toppings in small bowls so guests can properly top their dulce de leche inspired caramel sundae to their heart’s content!
I’m such a fan of the Cinnamon Toast Crunch churros. They add the perfect crunch and a fun flavor to the sundae. I’d highly recommend getting at least one box (sold at Walmart, you can find your nearest location here) for the sundae bar. They were our most popular topping by far!
It’s such a fun twist on a classic dessert! Plus, it’s a dessert bar that you can put together on even the busiest of gatherings with little time and effort!
