Celebrating the Day We Met
I was asked to participate in the #JaredTimelessMoments campaign, sponsored by Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry. Although I have been compensated, all opinions are my own.
The older I get the more I realize the little things are actually the big things. It’s these small moments that make up our lives and perpetuate the future. It really is amazing how one small moment can change the course of your future.
What’s even more incredible is how our memory can take a small moment that’s so important and make it feel so large, magnifying that this special occurrence forever changed our lives.
I’ll never forget the day I met Jacob Whiting. What normally would have seemed like an insignificant event became so significant that it’s one of my strongest memories. And, the details are forever etched on my mind so much so that I can recall the smells, the sounds, the room, right down to what t-shirt he was wearing.
At the time, I had put myself on a dating sabbatical in hopes of clearing out the clutter of a lot of bad first dates and in hopes of having more time to study for the GMAT to improve my score. After I took the test and received an acceptable score I still enjoyed my time alone finding myself and working on personal hobbies.
I had a personal experience that led me to really believe and feel like it was time to give dating a shot again, even though I was pretty happy where I was.
I went begrudgingly to a speed dating night with a friend and thought I was just supporting this friend to spend more time with a person of interest. We missed this speed dating but made it for the social after. Little did I know my third wheel state would lead to just the situation to create one of our favorite moments in the history of us. I tried to crack a joke to my friend and feel included in her conversation, with this man of interest, when I heard a witty reply from behind me that made me laugh. I turned around to see a tall skinny boy with the greatest smile I’d ever seen.
I want to say we were both smitten and it was love at first sight, but we’re more awkward than that and are thinkers who take our time with anything. But neither of us can deny there was something different instantly. It was a night we both felt like we’d met someone we really wanted to spend more time with. We talked the rest of the night. Even though there were lots of great people there that night, we really didn’t see anyone else and just felt this clear connection and desire to keep talking. What were hours felt like a moment, and somehow that moment of meeting and connecting now feels like hours.
I’d heard the phrase that when you meet the right person you just know. And it took us a little time to really know, but I understand what that means. It means there’s a connection you’ve never had, there’s a comfort in completely being yourself, and there’s a sense of clarity that this person is someone special and you want to spend more time with them. It makes past relationships feel so difficult, and the present seems so easy and so clear.
Because I’m a sucker for symbolism, and because Jacob knows this, I’ve always loved that diamonds are the classic piece to an engagement ring, they symbolize clarity and something that will last forever. Almost like the clarity of a diamond, you know that you’ve found a top grade person and this cut and clarity is just for you. I think that’s why I will always think a piece of diamond jewelry will always be a hit with me, it reminds me of how lucky I am to have met this amazing man and how clear it has been that he’s the best choice for me!
I think that’s why we love to celebrate the day we met. We often talk about how that seemingly cheesy speed dating night, in a random part of town neither of us frequent, led to the best moment with the greatest clarity that this person is something special. And, this year I’m so glad we got to celebrate with Jared the Galleria Of Jewelers to really take a minute to appreciate that simple moment that forever changed our lives. A simple piece that will last forever is just the kind of item we wanted to really symbolize our moment. I love that they have a large selection of fine jewelry for any milestone or occasion at all price points, even for the simple or small, or for the grand too! I love that they are prepped with gorgeous pieces for big and small budgets and occasions, so the romantic celebrations can ensue!
Just like the clarity of the perfect diamond, it continues to be so clear to us that we are the best option for each other. Plus, I’m a sucker for princess cut anything like these amazing screw back earrings that are perfect for every day, and particularly fun on a night out. Just like our relationship! These earrings are simple like the moment we met, and symbolic of our marriage with the same cut and style of my wedding ring. They’re something that will be a part of my life every day just like this guy I’m so lucky to call my husband. Which is why they are the perfect gift for me, and why Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry is such a great place to find that perfect gift!
We love to head out for Mexican food, our favorite. It’s what we ate on our first date and talked about that night as an easy, romantic date. That brings us right back to where it all began. And when the perfect diamond earrings are involved, even better!
