When I realized this year was going to make the holidays look different, I went into instant problem-solving mode. My kids love Holidays. I think all kids do! And the best part of parenthood is seeing the love and joy they experience.
I’m a firm believer it doesn’t take a lot to create some of that holiday joy. We started the concept of a holiday box with our Halloween Box this year. It was such a hit with a little spooky fun all October, I knew we needed to continue the fun for Thanksgiving and for Christmas too!
As soon as I started seeing a few fun, inexpensive Thanksgiving items, I got to work putting together a Thanksgiving Box for kids. I knew it would be just the thing to help keep the excitement going while we’re home more this holiday season.

But let me share a bunch of our favorites and what we included in our November Boxes this year!
SOMETHING FESTIVE TO WEAR
Not as many retailers make Thanksgiving pajamas. You can typically find some from Carter’s or in the family matching lines at Target. But I love to grab some yellow, orange, or brown classic pajamas that feel festive but will be worn long after the holiday season. My boys each got a pair of these yellow tie-dye pajamas that are so soft and I know they’ll wear all year!
Thanksgiving Dinner/Family Picture Outfit
I know a lot of families dress up and do holiday pictures in the month of November. Several also buy a new sweater/shirt to look nice for Thanksgiving dinner. Why not grab those items and include them in a Thanksgiving Box to generate some excitement and help them feel more special?

Thanksgiving Crafts
I start looking for these easy items at the Target Spot early in the season. It’s a great place to grab several items for about $3 apiece. But I found almost everything this year with better deals at Joann. You can find tons of cute, simple Thanksgiving crafts/projects for kids to do!

FAMILY FUN WITH Thanksgiving EXPERIENCES
Plan a game night, a Thanksgiving movie night, or a time to create a favorite Thanksgiving recipe. Add a treat or ingredients to the mix so kids know they have a fun activity to look forward to.
It doesn’t take much to make November and the week of Thanksgiving feel special fun. And a November box is a really fun way to do just that!
